Alcázar de San Juan

There are some studies that consider Alcázar de San Juan to be Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra's birthplace (1547-1616). This Cervantine tradition is based on the baptism certificate found in the Parish Church of Santa María with the name of Miguel, the son of Blas Cervantes Saavedra and Catalina López.
